What’s in a Name?

I have spent a lot of time going back and forth on what to call the various energies, spiritual beings, and processes as they have been discovered and introduced into the greater energy picture. I have done my best to come up with terminology that is as clear and evocative as possible, so that each could be easily distinguished from everything else, but you may notice a certain lightness to my language, and that is deliberate.

As much as I loved Sophia dearly, the one significant bit of tension between us was that she took every aspect of her work very seriously. She also didn’t believe I took things seriously enough. I would refer to the work that we were doing as “fun,” much to her utter dismay, and to which she would respond, “This work isn’t meant to be fun! This is serious!”

To be fair, she was an intuitive counsellor who was tuned into our clients’ pain and suffering as they relayed their experiences to us and it impacted her perspective on the situation. From my perspective, however, the session is about creating the life you want. It’s about letting go of the past and turning the present into something magnificent and beautiful. It’s about breaking the chains that have been weighing you down and entering a world of freedom and lightness. I live in that world of optimism and determination, where anything is possible, where miracles happen every day, and where the joy of my clients overcoming their pains, fears, and traumas lifts me toward untold heights of happiness. And boy, is it fun!

That said, there is some potentially scary stuff out there. I say potentially because it depends entirely upon your point of view. Just like handling a wasp nest is terrifying unless you are wearing a protective suit, the idea of entities randomly interfering in our lives can be disconcerting to say the least, unless you are confident that they are completely unable to hurt you.

Words have power based on the associations we have with them. For example, the interferences I described in Chapter 7 consist of some kind of dark, or malevolent energy. I could have chosen to call them devils or demons, but those words immediately conjure up powerful forces of evil. Maybe they are, but we are more powerful because I know how easy they are to dispel. For a time I used to simply call them outside interferences. Technically accurate, but still more imposing than I want to give them credit for. I have therefore settled on the term meddler, because that is precisely how they impact us. They are simply a nuisance to address, and no client has yet felt afraid of a meddling energy.

So wherever possible, you will find the use of lighthearted words and descriptions. They are there to bring about a smile — or even a laugh — as you work towards conjuring up the life of your dreams.
